Successful Tournament 2026

This year's was our 40th annual Tournament, run every years except for 2020 2021 due to Covid restrictions.

We got lots of positive feedback about the delicious food on offer, the way the football was run and the cleanliness of our row of 13 chemical toilets including 4 of them designated as Ladies Only and which we furnished accordingly for female requirements.

 

Our Club was established in 1964 and we pride ourselves on offering girls football throughout the age groups during the season, in addition to multiple teams at various of our boys age groups.  At our Tournament we have grown the girls side of the event over recent years, so much so in fact that in the last few years, due to demand, we have been able to extend a couple of the girls age groups to also include a Trophy competition in addition to the Cup.  Over the weekend we use 14 pitches for the competitive age groups of U9 through to U18 as well as running non-competitive football at U7 and U8 where all the participants receive a medal each.

 

The whole Club is run entirely by volunteers as Managers, Coaches and Committee Members and likewise the Tournament is also run entirely by Club volunteers where the children's parents and extended families bring their time and effort into making the event run smoothly.  It is an opportunity for the Club to meet together to feel like one collaborative community and have some real fun and laughter whilst doing it.

 

We also bring some funds into local clubs in return for their support, such as the 1st Maidenhead Sea Scouts running the on-field car parking, the 1st Maidenhead Scouts and 1st Flackwell Heath Scouts providing the marquees and gala tents, Maidenhead Athletics Club providing chairs and tables and organizing to hire an alternative venue for their athletics training so we can use the pitches inside the athletics track, Great Marlow School providing trestle tables.

 

We are also grateful to Grundon Bins for providing all the bins for free and to A1 Loo Hire for providing the chemical toilets for just a small transport cost.  We pride ourselves on leaving all the football tournament area clean and tidy on Sunday evening after everything has been cleared down, quite possibly cleaner than when we started.

We are not sure what the future holds for our Tournament in the coming years with the changes planned for the Braywick site and the timing of these changes.  In order to be able to provide tournament football for all the boys and the girls age groups across the weekend, we need to be able to use the 14 pitches for 6aside football.  Finding an alternative local venue suitable for all the football and all the people attending is going to be a real challenge and if we are unable to find one then this would mean the end of this long-standing club tradition and popular local event.  It would also cause a big dent in our club finances, meaning we would have to bring in a big hike in club fees despite us trying keep football affordable for local families.
