Match Report – U15 Vipers vs Winnersh Rangers Avengers – 26th March

Match Report – U15 Vipers vs Winnersh Rangers Avengers – 26th March

U15 Vipers EBFA Div 8 of 8 – Lost 1-3 away to Winnersh Rangers Avengers – played with 7 Maidenhead players v 10. David Carrillo Chavarria scored.

For this game Maidenhead were down to 7 players out of a squad of 10 and 7 is the minimum number of players to go ahead with an 11aside game in EBFA. Ordinarily we would have conceded the game under these circumstances but the Vipers played this team 2 weeks earlier with 9 players v 11 and won 4-1. We arranged with the opposition the night before that if he had 11 players he would play 10 against us and if he had 10 players he would play 9 against us. Unluckily for us he had 11 so it was 7 v 10.

The team was Thomas Crane in goal, David Carrillo Chavarria left back, Dayo Akinjobi central defender, Cameron Tahir-Khaliq right back with Lucas Pieltain on the left, Slavko Bozhinov on the right and Sebi Lievano in the middle/up front.

Kick off 12.32. Tom save. Tom to Sebi who went on run and shot. Sebi corner from left which nearly went in. Dayo won ball and played it to Sebi. Dayo good defending and backheel in box to David who played the ball forward. Their shot went just over the crossbar. Tom goal kick up towards David. Conceded 0-1 12.39. Lucas to Dayo to David to Lucas nice passing move. David played ball over their defence. Dayo to Tom to David. David cleared by corner flag for a throw. Tom down on one knee to make save. David cleared for throw. Lucas ball forward. Slavko pass to Sebi. Cameron good defending. Tom save. Sebi throw to David. Cameron ball forward. David run on left. 12.49 David corner from left. David shot and then scored from rebound 1-1 to equalize.

Dayo to Lucas. Lucas lovely chip from right that so nearly went in. Tom collected ball and big kick forward. David cleared for throw. Lucas skipped challenge and pass to Dayo as both running out from defence. Dayo chipped ball over opposition player to Lucas. Dayo good defending with 2 players on him. Tom save on one knee again. David shot. Dayo throw on right. Dayo won ball and went on run down line on right. Slavko well played. David nice ball to Lucas on left wing in their half. Sebi throw on left in their half. Dayo to David. Tom save after the ball spun up and out of his hand from shot. Slavko cleared for throw. David good defending and cleared. Dayo cleared. Slavko ball forward. Tom save. Tom came out to edge of box to clear. Sebi throw for Dayo. Lucas good cover in defence. Half time 1-1.

2nd half. 13.13. David great run from half way. Sebi throw to David. David run to box from left. Dayo good defending. Dayo cleared forward. David ball forward. Dayo to Tom who played the ball forward. Dayo great defending and ball to Lucas. Tom cleared under pressure. Cameron good defending. Their corner. Lucas ball forward for David run. Sebi good pressure. Sebi throw. Their shot went wide. 13.26 Sebi went into goal so Tom could play on pitch. Dayo great ball to wing but Lucas couldn’t keep it on. Sebi collected ball and big kick. Dayo cleared forward over his shoulder. Sebi save from header. Tom’s shot went just over bar. David interception. Dayo throw to Tom, Dayo run but ball went out. Sebi down on one knee to save. Slavko volley to wing. Conceded 1-2 13.34.

Cameron throw to Tom. Tom great run at goal and shot. They scored but rulled out for handball in lead up. Sebi took free kick. Our free kick in their half for another handball which David took. Spectacular save by their goalie to tip our shot over, unluckily for us. Tom’s corner didn’t go on the pitch. Sebi took our free kick. Sebi diving save. 13.47 Conceded 1-3 when their player kicked ball from beween Sebi’s hands, injuring Sebi’s hand in the process. Sebi cleared.

I chose Man of the Match to be Dayo Akinjobi for the 2nd week running from the 2 games I have attended as he is absolutely brilliant in defence. I was very proud though of all the players for turning up to this game and playing their hearts out when so severely outnumbered and it turned out to be a hot day too which really worked against us. We had some very good chances to score and were unlucky that their last goal in particular was allowed. Well done to our Magnificent Seven for drawing the first half.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs Woodley United Mohawks – 26th March

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 5 of 8 – Won 6-3 away to Woodley United Mohawks

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

A well deserved 6-3 win against a decent Woodley side. A solid debut from Harvey Goldsworthy in central midfield and two debut goals from Ollie Webb – both from outside the box. Well done both. Other scorers were Rowan Sellman, Harry James and two from Senna Anagho. Assists from Harry James, Harvey Goldsworthy and Harry McGill (sorry if I missed anyone off).

Second half performance was particularly pleasing with lots of good football played. We kept the ball on the ground against the wind and created a hatful of chances. Heads didn’t go down even when Woodley got back to 3-3 against the run of play.

Lots of good performances out there but man of the match was Alex Antonas who had his best game for us at right back. Thanks to Harry Willett and Eesa Sharif for stepping up and playing in goal. Well done boys.

Match Report – U13 Jaguars and U13 Dragons – 12th March

Match Report – U13 Jaguars and U13 Dragons – 12th March

A great weekend for the U13’s boys teams with both Dragons and Jaguars securing excellent home wins at Altwood.

U13’s Dragons faced Darby Green and Potley Youth at home. It was a quiet start to the game until a good passage of play created an opportunity for Gabe Nicholson to curl home the opener from the left wing. An injury to one of our defenders meant Darby Green responded with two well worked goals and led 2-1 at half time, and continued to apply pressure after the break. The Dragons switched from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 to limit Darby’s midfield control, which swung the momentum back to the Dragons, who now launched multiple attacks. With three more goals from Gabe Nicholson and an excellent header by Malachai Randolph from a perfect Stanley Wilcockson corner.

A few words from man of the match Brett, who responded well and kept our deference strong following the early substitution of Jay Harvey.

“We started the game off strong with a few early chances our first goal come from a beautiful pass from Noah into Gab who smartly knew the keeper was off his line. Gabe chipped the keeper to make it 1-0 to the dragons.
From this we got a bit carried away and let the opposition get more possession of the ball and before we knew it we were 2-1 down with the half time approaching.
With a brilliant team talk at half time from our coaches we all got pumped up and realised we were still in this game we just had to put a few things right and to dig deep and give 100% which is exactly what the dragons did!!!”

Final score 5-2 to the dragons, who maintain their 100% record!

The wins continued as the 13’s Jaguars took to the field against Caversham AFC Dragons. The match started well with early pressure from Maidenhead, but the visitors scored first with a well worked goal. Jaguars responded immediately thanks to a brilliant passing move started in midfield by David Yakubovich and finished neatly by Harrison Gilmour.

The match was competitive throughout, but Jaguars continued to apply pressure through fast attacking play, and a robust defence limiting Caversham’s shooting opportunities.

Jaguars went on to secure a 4-1 home victory, Harrison netting twice, a well-deserved goal from man of the match Andrew Lee, and a coolly finished fourth from Dexter Mitchell in the final moments.

Boys voted Spencer Rigg-Hersom Man of the Match.

It was good to get the win, especially from a losing position, to maintain our 5th place in the table but we really should have done it more convincingly. However, it was only our 2nd match since 18Dec so boys not as match fit as they had been prior to Christmas.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs AFC Whitchurch – 5th February

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 5 of 8 – Drew 2-2 away to AFC Whitchurch

Match Report from Manager Roland McGill:

2-2 today. A great 2nd half fightback from 2-0 down. Goals from Rowan Sellman and Harry McGill, assists from Senna Anagho and Harry James respectively. Ollie Myall was solid in defence but when Harry McGill pushed up, Ollie didn’t put a foot wrong and superbly controlled the back line – a well earned man of the match. Well done Ollie.

Really positive from today boys. Great to see that comeback and we sooo nearly sneaked it. I’m still having visions of Harry Willett’s shot dipping in – so close. Next time Harry.
