Match Report – U14 Panthers vs Woodley United Mohawks – 26th March

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 5 of 8 – Won 6-3 away to Woodley United Mohawks

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

A well deserved 6-3 win against a decent Woodley side. A solid debut from Harvey Goldsworthy in central midfield and two debut goals from Ollie Webb – both from outside the box. Well done both. Other scorers were Rowan Sellman, Harry James and two from Senna Anagho. Assists from Harry James, Harvey Goldsworthy and Harry McGill (sorry if I missed anyone off).

Second half performance was particularly pleasing with lots of good football played. We kept the ball on the ground against the wind and created a hatful of chances. Heads didn’t go down even when Woodley got back to 3-3 against the run of play.

Lots of good performances out there but man of the match was Alex Antonas who had his best game for us at right back. Thanks to Harry Willett and Eesa Sharif for stepping up and playing in goal. Well done boys.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs AFC Whitchurch – 5th February

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs AFC Whitchurch – 5th February

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 5 of 8 – Drew 2-2 away to AFC Whitchurch

Match Report from Manager Roland McGill:

2-2 today. A great 2nd half fightback from 2-0 down. Goals from Rowan Sellman and Harry McGill, assists from Senna Anagho and Harry James respectively. Ollie Myall was solid in defence but when Harry McGill pushed up, Ollie didn’t put a foot wrong and superbly controlled the back line – a well earned man of the match. Well done Ollie.

Really positive from today boys. Great to see that comeback and we sooo nearly sneaked it. I’m still having visions of Harry Willett’s shot dipping in – so close. Next time Harry.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs Hearts of Teddlothian Falcons – 29th January

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 5 of 8 – Lost 2-5 at home to Hearts of Teddlothian Falcons

Match Report from Manager Roland McGill:

We lost 5-2 in the end but we were right in the match until they scored 3 quick goals mid way through the second half. The wind made it hard on top of playing with 10 men for most of the game. We did score a couple of fine goals, Harry James (an overhead kick!!) and a cool finish from Senna Anagho. We had more chances but our keepers, Harry McGill and Rowan Sellman, made a load of really good saves to keep us in the match – hence joint man of the match to them.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs FC Holyport – 27th November

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs FC Holyport – 27th November

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 6 of 8 – Won 7-2 at home to FC Holyport

Match report from Manager Roland McGill:

A good 7-2 win today against Holyport. We continued our fine form from last week and I think the first half today was the best we’ve played all season. With a great first half hat-trick from Harry James, one from Rowan Sellman and Harry Willett’s first of the season (from way outside the box) we went into half-time comfortably in the lead 5-1. Holyport upped their game in the second half and quickly pulled one back but a flying header from Callum Neeson-Roberts and a sharp turn and shot from Senna Anagho rounded the game off nicely. 7-2 in the end. Defence was solid and Eesa Sharif didn’t put a foot or hand wrong in goal.

Well done boys. Man of the Match was easy today Harry James was on fire. I lost count of how many players he beat for that cracking goal.

Match Report – U14 Panthers vs Caversham Trents Whites – 20th November

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 6 of 8 – Won 11-1 away to Caversham Trents Whites

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

Back to winning ways with a commanding 11-1 win away at Caversham. We dominated from start to finish and the boys played some really slick football and scored some great goals. Scorers: Harry James 5, Rowan Sellman 3, Callum Neeson-Roberts 2 and Ollie Myall 1. Lots of passing, dribbling, tackling and talking to each other. Eesa Sharif was Man of the Match for another strong CDM performance – he’s improving every week there.

Match Report – Maidenhead U14 Panthers vs Bracknell Cavalier Saints

U14 Panthers – Drew 3-3 at home to Bracknell Cavalier Saints – 13th November

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

Not our best performance today and a draw was a fair result. Our goals came from an own goal and 2 from Senna Anagho but it wasn’t enough. The game was locked at 3-3 for the last hour but neither side could get the ball in the net from an onside position. We definitely lacked composure on the ball today – something to work on at training. Difficult to pick a man of the match but it goes to Bailey Hayward for some timely interceptions.

Match Report – U14 Panthers v Finchampstead Chargers

U14 Panthers EBFA Div 6 of 8 – Won 5-4 at home to Finchampstead Chargers in League Cup knockout match

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

Well I think that was one of our best ever performances today. We had 10 players first half and 9 in the second half, up against a well organized and competitive Finchampstead side (who played with 11). We made some changes due to numbers and Harry McGill leaving his boots at school. But the whole team gelled quickly and from the off we looked like we had a good chance. Senna Anagho scored the first after Callum Neeson-Roberts won the ball in defence and threaded an incisive pass to him. Finchamsptead scored direct from a free kick a minute later but within a couple of minutes Harry James put us back in front with Callum Neeson-Roberts assisting again. Rowan Sellman scored a cracker from long distance with his left foot – it wasn’t a cross!!! Harry McGill made amends for losing his boots by pulling off a one handed diving save from another free kick. 3-1 at half time.

Finchampstead pulled it back to 3-2 at the start of the second half and when Harry James departed it could’ve gone awry. But Senna Anagho go another to give us some breathing space. However Finchampstead scored 2 to level it at 4-4 with 10mins to go. Credit to the boys as their heads did not go down. It was a very nervy time for us watching, never mind the boys playing. Senna Anagho completed his hat-trick after great work by Rowan Sellman – 5-4 up. Last few minutes were nail biting but the boys hung on to win. Not sure I could’ve coped with penalties!!

A real team effort today with really determined performances all over the park. Man of the Match to Callum Neeson-Roberts for really stepping up as centre half – 2 assists, umpteen tackles and interceptions and really led the defence well but really well done to all.

U12 Panthers – Won 3-2 home to Whitegrove Saints

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

A tough, hard fought 3-2 win for the Panthers today.  Conditions were tricky with a strong wind blowing down the pitch but the boys just kept plugging away and thoroughly deserved the win in the end.

We started off strongly again creating a handful of decent chances but a mix up at the back between Harry McGill and Alfie Waller on 19mins saw Whitegrove go one up (not sure who got the last touch but an own goal for sure).  Heads didn’t go down and 2 mins later Leo Cresswell coolly slotted th ball through the keeper’s legs to draw level.  Great spirit boys!!

We kept pushing with the wind behind us and just before the break Callum Neeson-Roberts expertly broke free, showing great composure, and clinically finished.  2-1 up at half time.

2nd half was uphill into the wind but that didn’t deter the Panthers.  We created a number of half chances but it took 22 second half mins for us to go 3-1 up through a great Harry James finish.  That should’ve been it, but the boys conspired to make the parents even more hassled by conceding a soft goal on 26mins of 2nd half.

The Panthers held on to record another win, thankfully.  Man of the match was Adem Aitkaci whose first half defensive display was awesome.  Well done to all Panthers.  Big thanks to Dan for running the line and to all the support.

Wow Panthers! 4-1 win away

U12 Panthers – Won 4-1 away to Darby Green and Potley Dynamos (who we previously lost 1-4 to on first game of the season when we only had 8 players)

Match Report from Manager Roland McGill:

Wow Panthers – what a performance!! A 4-1 win away at Darby Green and it could easily have been 10-1 as we were so dominant.

It took until 25mins for Callum Neeson-Roberts to break the deadlock but before that we had umpteen chances, a couple of goals ruled out for offside and a missed penalty!!  1-0 at halftime.

Thankfully Callum added a second 3mins into the 2nd half.  Then goals from Billy O’Brien and Harry James made it comfortable for us at 4-0.  Darby Green pulled one back from a free kick but we still made a few more chances including another couple ruled out for offside!

Was good to see the boys keep their focus and discipline.  Great performances all over the park with EVERYONE contributing to the win.  Big thanks to Harry Willett, Christopher Farkas and Will Howarth for taking a turn in goal.  Man of the Match to Billy O’Brien for his tireless efforts and, of course, finishing when the ball came back off the post from a rocket of a Callum Neeson-Roberts shot.  A very encouraging start to the New Year indeed.

Well done boys and thanks to the parents and siblings for the great support and encouragement.

Maidenhead Panthers vs Ashridge Park Rovers in the EBFA Trophy Event

Ashridge Park Rovers 5 Maidenhead Panthers 5 – Maidenhead won on penalties
The Div 7 U12 Maidenhead Panthers played Div 6 Ashridge Park Rovers in the EBFA Trophy Event on Saturday.
The Panthers team was:
Alfie Waller in goal, Harry James, Christopher Farkas, Adem Aitkaci, Callum Neeson-Roberts, Leo Cresswell, Billy O’Brien, Patrick Spiers, Will Howarth – so only 9 boys for 9aside.
The Panthers were 5-4 down with 2 mins left but Callum scored a last gasp equalizer to complete his hat-trick and force the team’s first penalty shoot out to keep the drama going.
Three heroic penalty saves from goalie Alfie Waller along with penalties from Will, Callum and Harry secured a cup win against a team in a higher division.
There were outstanding performances from everyone but in particular Will and Adem were awesome in defence whilst Billy and Christopher ran marathons in midfield chasing every ball and making great tackles.  The boys all worked so hard for each other and were first to the ball every time and clearly wanted to win.
Well done boys – you made everyone very proud of you!
