2 hat-tricks in 9-0 win over Sandhurst Town U13 Girls

9-0 winners!

Maidenhead U13s girls put in a sparkling, dominant performance in their penultimate match of the season winning 9-0 away at Sandhurst. The girls were 5-0 up at half time and brought on substitutions in the second half, adding 4 more goals.

All of the girls in the squad of 12 on the day played one of their best matches of the season. Sofia Lacey and Lily Gibson both scored one goal and Captain Charlie Potter scored her first hat trick for the team. Girl of the game Emily McMaster netted four goals.

Coach Andy McCartney was impressed with the quality of play, noting the calm control, great passing and accuracy in finishing. He said: “It’s just “clicked” for the girls”.

U11 Maidenhead vs Laurel Park

Today was an end of season cup match and another windy day with gales blowing down the length of the pitch.

Laurel Park came out strong and the game started evenly, but Maidenhead had the wind behind them and the slope in our favour. After ten mins a shot from Lizzie was blocked, but she followed up brilliantly to score. Soon after Sophie intercepted a goal kick and scored with a strong shot.

Second half Laurel Park were in charge with the wind and slope behind them. The Maidenhead girls put up a great defence though and our goalie was brilliant, so Laurel Park struggled to finish off. Some great runs from Sophie, Charlotte, Lucy and others gave a chance of a third, but the game ended 2-0 to Maidenhead.

Thanks to Laurel Park for such a good game in very difficult conditions and Vinny for the great coaching and encouragement.

U12 Panthers – Won 3-2 home to Whitegrove Saints

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

A tough, hard fought 3-2 win for the Panthers today.  Conditions were tricky with a strong wind blowing down the pitch but the boys just kept plugging away and thoroughly deserved the win in the end.

We started off strongly again creating a handful of decent chances but a mix up at the back between Harry McGill and Alfie Waller on 19mins saw Whitegrove go one up (not sure who got the last touch but an own goal for sure).  Heads didn’t go down and 2 mins later Leo Cresswell coolly slotted th ball through the keeper’s legs to draw level.  Great spirit boys!!

We kept pushing with the wind behind us and just before the break Callum Neeson-Roberts expertly broke free, showing great composure, and clinically finished.  2-1 up at half time.

2nd half was uphill into the wind but that didn’t deter the Panthers.  We created a number of half chances but it took 22 second half mins for us to go 3-1 up through a great Harry James finish.  That should’ve been it, but the boys conspired to make the parents even more hassled by conceding a soft goal on 26mins of 2nd half.

The Panthers held on to record another win, thankfully.  Man of the match was Adem Aitkaci whose first half defensive display was awesome.  Well done to all Panthers.  Big thanks to Dan for running the line and to all the support.

U13 Girls win again.

Maidenhead U13 Girls beat Tilehurst Panthers 3-2 at home on Saturday 9th March in a tense and windy match. Captained by Dani Yakubovich, Maidenhead leapt to an early 2-0 lead with beautifully taken, skillful goals from Sasha Herridge and Lily Gibson. In gale force wind conditions Tilehurst fought back to 2-2 and then Sofia Lacey finished the game with a spectacular volley from 20 meters.

Oops!

The victory was hard fought, and was especially pleasing as the girls were without both their official goalkeepers. Plus, two other players were also missing through flu/illness. Emily McCartney was girl of the game.

3-2 winners

In other news: The annual Girls U13 Bake off competition, organised kindly by parent Jennie Knowles was a huge success! Winners were:

Amelie Checkley (Star Baker and Best Decorated Cake)

Laila Knowles (Best Cupcake)

Jess Buckley (Best Teatime Favourite)

Ready Steady BAKE!

Gale force winds made the game interesting….

Maidenhead U13 girls come from behind to beat Caversham 3-1

Maidenhead U13 Girls bounced back from a disappointing and bruising 0-0 draw against AFC Reading the week before and also conceding the first goal against Caversham on Saturday 9 Feb at Altwood School.Lily Gibson scored 2 goals and Charlie Potter scored 1. The Caversham GK was outstanding and saved lots of potential goals…

The last time the girls played Caversham it was 1-1 draw – the girls are improving all the time and are back up to 3rd in Divison 1 in the Berkshire County Girls Football League.

Maidenhead stuck to their game plan and with a match day squad of 14 were able to make substitutions to keep the team fresh and make sure everyone got a game.

It’s the Half Term break now and the girls will take part in a team cake “bake off” on 2 March…..

U11/U10 Girls – Berkshire Futsal – Afternoon Tournament

Players:
Lucy
Millie Catlin
Deetya
Grace
Elsie
Siena

The girls played 4 games at the group stage but unfortunately didn’t make the semi-finals. During the group games they were able to score goals with 1 from Millie and 1 from Lucy. They then played the runners up from the Group B (Tilehurst Panthers?) which finished with 1-1 draw.

Considering these girls have never played together, several are U10’s and some had never played Futsal before, they played really well and should all be very proud. Grace was a star in goal with so many saves and Siena played through a nasty injury to her knee.
