Maidenhead pulled together a U11 girls team to play at Sandhurst Summer Tournament. The team was a mixture of girls from the U10 team playing up and some of the U11 girls who normally play up in the U12 team.

The team took a while to get warmed up and lost the first two games 1-0 to Rushmoor and 3-0 to Tilehurst Panthers. There was some great play though with saves from Charlotte and some great runs from Georgina.

Maidenhead managed to get in to the swing and got a draw against Thatcham Town Blues and a win against Tilehurst Panther Belles with the goal from Charlotte. This gave us a respectable 4 points; not enough to make it into the finals, but the girls had the opportunity for a game in the playoffs against Wokingham and Emmbrook.

The final match was a tense game, with great play from all the girls forcing a 1-1 draw and leading to sudden death penalties. A good save from the Wokingham and Emmbrook goalie on the first penalty meant the Maidenhead goalie had a difficult job. She stood her ground brilliantly, but a great shot put us out.

A brilliant day and given the girls weren’t used to playing together and had no subs they did brilliantly.

A great finish for possibly the last game for the team at Kensington Road.

Following a few weeks of cancelled matches the U10 girls team had two cup games today. We were down a few players, so no subs available.

The first game against Bracknell Athletic was a really exciting and close game. Despite some great play, some brilliant crosses and lots of pressure the match ended 0-1 to Bracknell.

Against Berks County we went down 2 goals in the first half despite some great defence and a brilliant save from our first half goalie Olivia. The girls tried really hard in the second half with some brilliant runs from Mia, but the game ended 0-3 to Berks.

Maidenhead U10 girls played in the Berks Girls Futsal tournament in Bracknell at the weekend. With two wins and a loss in the group round they made it through to the finals.

The final itself was a tense 2-2 draw, followed by penalties with the girls eventually getting knocked out in sudden death penalties.

Great play and great teamwork!

Another fun game at Kensington Park

The girls enjoyed another great game this morning in their new (and soon to be muddy) kit.

This was a Autumn Trophy cup game against Wargrave Tigers. Everyone played really well and they came a way with a win!

16 of the Maidenhead girls have had a great day down at York Road as mascots for Maidenhead United.

The girls had a pre-game warm up, half time penalties and watched a thrillingly close 3-3 draw between Maidenhead and Aldershot.

Quite a day after the girl’s Saturday matches this morning!
