Match Report – U13 Jaguars and U13 Dragons – 12th March
A great weekend for the U13’s boys teams with both Dragons and Jaguars securing excellent home wins at Altwood.
U13’s Dragons faced Darby Green and Potley Youth at home. It was a quiet start to the game until a good passage of play created an opportunity for Gabe Nicholson to curl home the opener from the left wing. An injury to one of our defenders meant Darby Green responded with two well worked goals and led 2-1 at half time, and continued to apply pressure after the break. The Dragons switched from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 to limit Darby’s midfield control, which swung the momentum back to the Dragons, who now launched multiple attacks. With three more goals from Gabe Nicholson and an excellent header by Malachai Randolph from a perfect Stanley Wilcockson corner.
A few words from man of the match Brett, who responded well and kept our deference strong following the early substitution of Jay Harvey.
“We started the game off strong with a few early chances our first goal come from a beautiful pass from Noah into Gab who smartly knew the keeper was off his line. Gabe chipped the keeper to make it 1-0 to the dragons.
From this we got a bit carried away and let the opposition get more possession of the ball and before we knew it we were 2-1 down with the half time approaching.
With a brilliant team talk at half time from our coaches we all got pumped up and realised we were still in this game we just had to put a few things right and to dig deep and give 100% which is exactly what the dragons did!!!”
Final score 5-2 to the dragons, who maintain their 100% record!
The wins continued as the 13’s Jaguars took to the field against Caversham AFC Dragons. The match started well with early pressure from Maidenhead, but the visitors scored first with a well worked goal. Jaguars responded immediately thanks to a brilliant passing move started in midfield by David Yakubovich and finished neatly by Harrison Gilmour.
The match was competitive throughout, but Jaguars continued to apply pressure through fast attacking play, and a robust defence limiting Caversham’s shooting opportunities.
Jaguars went on to secure a 4-1 home victory, Harrison netting twice, a well-deserved goal from man of the match Andrew Lee, and a coolly finished fourth from Dexter Mitchell in the final moments.
