Match Report – U16 Colts vs Camberley Town Youth Rangers – 5th February

U16 Colts EBFA Div 6 of 6 – Won 2-1 away to Camberley Town Youth Rangers

We won 6-0 in our home fixture against Camberley but were in for a much tighter game away.

We had 15 of our 16 man squad present with only Lucas Taylor unavailable. Team was therefore Freddie Nash in goal, Jack Clews left back, Spencer Rigg-Hersom and Noah Sturrock central defence with Thomas Watson right back. Ben Thompson left wing, Declan Pinto right wing with Owen Smyth, Jake Stanley and Hisham Nadeem central midfield and Rhyce O’Connor up front. Starting subs Charlie Townsend, Josh Ewers, Kai Enser and Tejas Chahal.

Kick off 10.36am. Thomas nice touch. Owen to Thomas. Jake played back to Owen who played the ball forward. Declan to Thomas to Owen. Jake superb ball up to Declan who took it down well. Thomas throw to Declan. Jake great ball over their defence for Ben. Hisham to Ben. Jack backheeled the ball forward. Jack throw at half way. Owen shielded ball off at speed. Jake to Freddie in crowded box to clear forward. Freddie diving save. Hisham hooked the ball forward. Freddie save with his feet. Jake ball forward to Ben who took it down well. Jack won ball in defence and played it to Ben. Owen great interception at full stretch. Noah played to Declan. Freddie got kneed in the neck in a tackle and was down for a while but recovered to continue. Freddie to Thomas. Owen corner to Ben. 10.58 Subs: Tejas on for Hisham, Josh on for Rhyce. Their shot went wide. Lovely move from Maidenhead playing the ball out from defence.

11.02 Ben went on run on left. Sub: Kai on for Declan who was injured. Noah won ball. Kai ball into box with Josh running in. 11.05 conceded 0-1. Tejas to Josh to Jack who played the ball forward. Tejas powerful ball forward. Josh to Kai up front. Tejas header forward but it went off. Noah to Owen to Jake. Jack good marking/defending. Kai good battling. Thomas good tackle. 11.10 Sub: Ben off, Charlie on. 11.12. Sub: Kai off with injured ankle, Hisham on. Jack cleared for their corner. Noah to Thomas to Hisham. Thomas played the ball off their player for our goal kick. Josh great skill but got injured in the process. Sub: Josh off, Declan on. Freddie save. Hisham great run dodging tackles and played ball into box for Declan. Jake run. Half time.

2nd half. Freddie in goal, Jack left back, Spencer and Noah central defence, Thomas right back, Declan left wing, Ben right wing with Owen, Jake and Tejas in central midfield with Hisham up front. Subs: Josh, Charlie, Kai and Rhyce.

2nd half 11.24. Declan great run and shot but goalie managed to save it sitting down. Jack to Declan, Declan header. Jack ball forward. Owen to Thomas. Ben throw. It was good to get the win, especially from a losing position, to maintain our 5th place in the table but we really should have done it more convincingly. However, it was only our 2nd match since 18Dec so boys not as match fit as they had been prior to Christmas.
