Foxes Bid Farewell to Their Right Back

U14 Boys - Foxes

It is always a sad day when a player leaves the Foxes and just before the second lockdown that is exactly what the Foxes had to do. Our right back only started playing serious football back in the summer of 2019 joining Maidenhead Boys and Girls and playing for the Sharks. Due to a reorganisation this summer the Foxes were fortunate to secure him. He quickly settled and has gone from strength to strength and was already showing signs of becoming this year’s most improved player.

With Covid guidelines in place we were unable to give him the send-off he so deserved but we did manage a training session, presentation, and a photo, all socially distanced. We all wish him good luck with his move abroad and hope he keeps up the football. We very much appreciated his contribution and thank him for the sweets. If he returns to Maidenhead we hope he comes back.

The 2019/2020 season came to an abrupt halt with the onset of the Corona Virus. The Foxes started the season with only 1 win in the 4 league games but then soon found their form. The wins started coming and we climbed the table week on week and had our sights on finishing third or possibly even second. Then the Corona Virus set in. We knew this would be a tough game as we played them at home first match of the season and lost 0-15.

Charlie Townsend in goal. Jack Clews left back, Spencer Rigg-Hersom and Charlie Proctor centre backs and Lucas Taylor right back. Noah Sturrock defensive midfielder. Zac Murray left wing, Ben Thompson and Idris Hussain centre midfield with Jack Newton right wing and Freddie Nash up front. Subs Charlie Hayward and Sebi Lievano.

Kick off 10.48am. Idris to Jack N. Ben ball forward. Ben and Spencer one-twos. Charlie T cleared with his feet. 10.51 0-1. Ben to Idris to Jack N to Zac. Idris tackle. Free kick in our half for foul on Noah which Spencer took. 10.53 Our corner from right. Idris to Jack C who played ball over their defence. Charlie P cleared under pressure. Charlie P throw in our half on the right. Spencer ball forward over their defence. Noah tackle in midfield. We lost 5-1 in our away game against this team when we went down to 10 players to match their 10 despite us having 12 players on the day.  

This time we had 17 players available as only Charlie Hayward not playing and they allowed us to use all 6 subs.

Team was Charlie Townsend in goal, Dayo Akinjobi left back, Spencer Rigg-Hersom and Noah Sturrock centre backs with Lucas Taylor right back. Ben Thompson defensive midfield, Jack Newton left wing, Thomas Crane and Kai Enser centre mid and Zac Murray right wing with Freddie Nash up front. Starting subs Charlie Proctor, Jack Clews, Idris Hussain, Christopher Farkas, Lucas Pieltain and Sebi Lievano.

For this first game back after the Christmas break, so 3 weeks after our last match on 14Dec, we had only 12 players available from our large squad.  The boys hadn’t had any training sessions since Mon 09Dec.

Players:  Charlie Townsend, Dayo Akinjobi, Spencer Rigg-Hersom, Noah Sturrock, Lucas Taylor, Ben Thompson,  Jack Newton, Thomas Crane, Kai Enser, Christopher Farkas, Freddie Nash. Zac Murray was sub but he wasn’t feeling fit enough to play so didn’t end up making an appearance.  Zac’s cousin Kaine Murray ran the team.  Kaine appointed Spencer as Captain.

1st half 10.36 kick off.  Ben tackle.  Freddie ball forward.  Thomas to Freddie.  Jack N good pressure on defender and goalie and nearly won the ball.  Thomas cross into box.  Ben tackle.  Noah challenge on their player and clearance.  Goal kick.  Freddie and Kai one-twos.  Spencer won ball and pass to Jack N.  Lucas T tackle and Noah cleared forward.  Ben and Kai well battled together in midfield.  Thomas took our corner from left.  Spencer clearance.  Jack N great pass.  Kai to Jack N to Kai again.  Thomas and Chris great ball skills.  Their goalie had to make diving save.  Noah goal kick.  Kai throw from right at half way.  Thomas played the ball off their player for our corner from right.  Kai took corner and Noah came racing in to crash the ball home 1-0 10.47.

2nd half same positions as first.  Ben run into box.  Thomas great challenge.  Spencer to Jack N.  Noah strong in defence and cleared for throw.  Kai cleared.  Ben won ball and played to Chris.  Spencer to Chris.  Dayo to Jack N to Kai ball through defence to Freddie won went on a good run.  Spencer good defending.  Kai to Thomas.  Ben throw in their half from right.  Noah throw on right.  11.24.  Thomas superb persistent battling in box and ball to Jack N who shot and ball back to Jack N who scored this time 2-0.  They temporarily went down to 10 players as another player went off injured.  Thomas clearance off our goal line.  Ben to Freddie to Jack N.  Spencer ball forward.  11.29 Kai throw to Ben.  Noah throw to Ben in box.  Charlie T gathered the ball.  Dayo to Lucas T.  Noah cleared their cross just in front of our goal post.  Ben cleared for corner.  Kai cleared for throw.  Noah throw to Kai.  Jack to Kai who played ball forward for Freddie.  Ben run and shot went just over the bar.  Lucas T to Noah who cleared.  Charlie T collected the ball and big kick forward.  11.37 Lucas T to Freddie who shot but goalie parried for our corner from right.  Ben to Kai.  Kai challenge and won ball.

Goal kick.  Lucas to Kai.  11.43 Ben scored 3-0.  Spencer cleared for corner under pressure.  Kai tackle.  Chris back heel to Kai.  Freddie good battling.  Freddie in on goalie and nearly got the ball.  Goal kick.  Thomas ball through their defence.  Noah throw.  Freddie shot went well over.  Thomas won ball.  11.51 Kai scored 4-0.  Thomas hassle.  Foul on Thomas, Noah took free kick.

Everybody was elated with the performance from our 11 players who played well for the whole game with no substitutions for fresh legs.  We lost 7-1 to this team previously this season so it was a massive turnaround to beat them 4-0 this time.  This was also the team’s first clean sheet of the season. This win also took them up to 7 points and off the bottom spot for the first time this season in bottom division.

Saturday 28th September- County cup match
Score 10 – 1

A good team performance by the Sharks. Some great passing and through balls leading to our goals. Good movement on and off the ball, great closing down making it hard for our opponents. Defending was also solid, but went to sleep for their. Goals scorers 5 by Esa, 2 goals by Kayden followed by 2 goals for Peter and an own goal.

Man of the match was Alfie and Kayden for a great display of football.

Score 1-7

A great start to the season for the Sharks. Every player had an amazing game, with lots of good passing, great defending and some fantastic movement on and off the ball.

3 goals by Esa, 2 goals by Kaydan, 1 goal by Roni, and 1 goal by Jayden. Man of the match was Esa for his hat-trick and his team work through the whole match. All players played well after the summer break.

Report from Manager Roland McGill:

A tough, hard fought 3-2 win for the Panthers today.  Conditions were tricky with a strong wind blowing down the pitch but the boys just kept plugging away and thoroughly deserved the win in the end.

We started off strongly again creating a handful of decent chances but a mix up at the back between Harry McGill and Alfie Waller on 19mins saw Whitegrove go one up (not sure who got the last touch but an own goal for sure).  Heads didn’t go down and 2 mins later Leo Cresswell coolly slotted th ball through the keeper’s legs to draw level.  Great spirit boys!!

We kept pushing with the wind behind us and just before the break Callum Neeson-Roberts expertly broke free, showing great composure, and clinically finished.  2-1 up at half time. 

2nd half was uphill into the wind but that didn’t deter the Panthers.  We created a number of half chances but it took 22 second half mins for us to go 3-1 up through a great Harry James finish.  That should’ve been it, but the boys conspired to make the parents even more hassled by conceding a soft goal on 26mins of 2nd half.

The Panthers held on to record another win, thankfully.  Man of the match was Adem Aitkaci whose first half defensive display was awesome.  Well done to all Panthers.  Big thanks to Dan for running the line and to all the support.

Wow Panthers! 4-1 win away

U14 Boys - Panthers

U12 Panthers – Won 4-1 away to Darby Green and Potley Dynamos (who we previously lost 1-4 to on first game of the season when we only had 8 players)

Match Report from Manager Roland McGill:

Wow Panthers – what a performance!! A 4-1 win away at Darby Green and it could easily have been 10-1 as we were so dominant. 

It took until 25mins for Callum Neeson-Roberts to break the deadlock but before that we had umpteen chances, a couple of goals ruled out for offside and a missed penalty!!  1-0 at halftime.

Thankfully Callum added a second 3mins into the 2nd half.  Then goals from Billy O’Brien and Harry James made it comfortable for us at 4-0.  Darby Green pulled one back from a free kick but we still made a few more chances including another couple ruled out for offside!

Was good to see the boys keep their focus and discipline.  Great performances all over the park with EVERYONE contributing to the win.  Big thanks to Harry Willett, Christopher Farkas and Will Howarth for taking a turn in goal.  Man of the Match to Billy O’Brien for his tireless efforts and, of course, finishing when the ball came back off the post from a rocket of a Callum Neeson-Roberts shot.  A very encouraging start to the New Year indeed.

Well done boys and thanks to the parents and siblings for the great support and encouragement.

Team Santa Run

Its not just football in the Foxes. Time for a bit of festive fun as the team enter the Marlow 5k Santa Run. A great morning to start the festvie period and all were amazing. Some great times were acheived especially for those that hadn’t completed the distance before.
