Match Report from Manager Roland McGill: quite a reverse from 11-2 win we had last October. Our 9 players were supplemented by 2 from Twyford but we still didn’t play well enough to win. We did start reasonably well and took the lead with a goal from Senna Anagho. We had other chances but lost 2 goals late in the first half and would have gone in 2-1 down but Callum Neeson-Roberts won a late penalty, converted by Harry McGill. We started the second half poorly and were 4-2 down after 4mins. It didn’t get any better and we lost 7-2 with creating any more clear chances. That’s the first mini league finished and next 5 games are against stronger opponents so we need to step it up for those games

We won the previous fixture 4-2 away to Ashridge Park. We only had 11 players for this Bank Holiday weekend fixture.

Kick off 10.37am. Freddie Nash in goal, Charlie Townsend left back, Jack Clews and Josh Ewers centre backs and Lucas Taylor right back with Ethan Rockley left wing, Maverick Afonso and Tejas Chahal centre midfield with Declan Pinto right wing and up front Ben Thompson and Owen Smyth.

Declan ball forward. Tejas to Owen. 10.42. Freddie collected ball. Freddie great kick to Ben. Owen shot collected by their goalie. Ethan won their goalie kick. Charlie to Ethan. Jack free kick to Owen to Declan who went on run into box. Josh brilliant interception. 10.47 Freddie great save. Ben run down left wing and laid ball back for Ethan. Declan good work in middle of the park. Owen to Ben. Tejas throw and ball into box and Declan cross from right which Ethan tried to head home but couldn’t quite reach. 10.54 Charlie great ball to wing. Ethan fouled. Owen great free kick but goalie saved. Charlie great touch to bring their goalie kick down. Declan won tackle. Lucas won tackle. Tejas great battling.

Lucas great run to midfield, skipping fouls to pass to Declan. Owen great cross from right into box, Ethan got the ball and crossed it back in from the left. Declan to Owen and cross in box from right. Josh clearance. Josh clearance for another throw. Maverick cleared. Charlie block. 10.59 Declan run and shot was parried for our corner from left. Josh to Declan who shielded the ball well and laid back to Lucas to play the ball forward. 11.04 our throw by their corner flag on the left. Charlie to Declan to Owen. Owen to Maverick to Declan to Owen. Jack interception in defence. Jack throw. Jack throw in their half to Ethan. Ben to Declan whose shot went just wide. Jack to Charlie to Tejas. Owen kept ball in play and passed it to Tejas in box. Jack ball forward. Charlie excellent pass to Ethan to Tejas. Declan to Ben good work, Ben shot just wide. Ben great header.

Declan and Lucas good play, Owen to Tejas. Ben shot looked like it was going in but didn’t. Ethan and Ben good work, Owen shot. Charlie good play “juggling” ball and to Jack who played ball forward. Tejas header to Ben. Tejas run into box. Tejas won their goal kick. 11.16 Owen free kick for foul on Ben outside D but centrally but it just dropped down too late to go in. Ben won ball and played it forward down line on the left for Ethan. Owen to Lucas to Declan to Ethan.

Half time 0-0. Sean told the boys at half time that that was the best half of football he has seen them play.

2nd half 11.24am. Positions the same as first half. Owen ball forward for Tejas. Declan run into box on goalie. Ben to Owen. Declan to Tejas to Ethan. Josh clearance all the way to their goalie.

Ethan defensive header off for throw. Owen cross from left. Josh long clearance, about the length of a pitch, for a throw! Tejas holding the ball up well under pressure. Lucas throw on right in their half. Jack ball forward. Owen great play and powerful shot at goalie. 11.45 Declan scored 1-0 when he chipped the keeper. Freddie collected ball from their corner. Ben and Owen good battling up front. Charlie to Jack. Owen took free kick which was on target.

Ben pass to Owen to Ethan whose shot just dropped over crossbar. Declan to Ben. Lucas throw to Ben, our corner. Jack took corner from right but their goalie got. Charlie ball forward. 11.55 conceded equalizer 1-1. Charlie good work. Charlie throw down line. Freddie collected. Maverick clearance forward. 11.57 Ben great run and great shot. Ethan took ball well from their goalie. Charlie block. Maverick ball forward. Freddie save. Ethan header. 12.02 Ethan fouled in the box, Jack took resulting penalty but unfortunately missed. Freddie save. Jack bad foul on their player.

The boys were really disappointed not to win, especially after playing so well and Jack was gutted not to have scored the penalty.

Sean chose Owen Smyth as the Man of the Match.

Report from Manager Roland McGill: Well that was a tough game against a much improved Sandhurst team. We ran out 5-3 winners in the end but had to come back from behind twice. Our first half display was disappointing (rubbish) and we were fortunate to go in 1-1 at the break after Rowan Sellman equalised on 34mins, assisted by Billy O’Brien. Defensively poor with little covering for our 2 injured defenders and not much better going forward. It’s not often I have to give the boys a good talking to at halftime but I did today. We started the 2nd half a bit better but went behind again. Callum Marques then made some good saves to keep it at 2-1. Boys eventually got going (attack and defence) and Harry James got us level, assisted by Rowan Sellman. Harry James then got us in front assisted by Callum Marques. Solo goals from Harry McGill and Rowan Sellman put the result beyond doubt before Sandhurst got another but by then we were in control (of sorts). Harry McGill got man of the match for soldiering on injured to keep it together at the back and scoring a fine goal. It was our 10 v 11 but really we should have done better.

Although it was only about 10 degrees when we arrived the sun was out and it felt during the match like it had warmed up to nearly 20 degrees.

We had 12 players for this away game: Freddie Nash in goal, Jack Clews left back, Josh Ewers and Noah Sturrock central defence and Lucas Taylor right back. Kai Enser left wing, Ben Thompson right wing, with Declan Pinto, Maverick Afonso and Jake Stanley central midfield and Owen Smyth up front. Charlie Townsend started as sub.

Kick off 10.41am. Nice passing move from Maidenhead starting from the back. Jake to Kai. Noah cleared for throw. Noah took free kick. Noah header. Owen great skills and our throw which Jack took. Declan header to Ben who went on run. Ben run and Ben shot which keeper nearly spilled. Jack good defending. 10.46 conceded 0-1 to an excellent top left corner shot which Freddie nearly managed to get to. Jake to Declan to Maverick. Owen ball into box. Kai great work and ball forward for Ben. Ben throw on left up front. Jack in for decisive header. Lucas won ball and played it forward. Foul on Ben at half way line and Noah took free kick. Owen run and shot which was collected by keeper with Kai and Ben in great positions at far post. Lucas run in to defend for Freddie to collect ball. Owen run, Jake cross/shot, our corner. 10.53 Jack corner but it went behind goal. Maverick to Declan who played ball through their defence. Jack throw to Kai. Jake fantastic ball through their defence for Kai. Up front Jack throw to Owen header. Ben free kick.

Lucas cleared. 11.10 Sub: Kai off, Charlie on and Owen moved to wing. Ben great run and shot which nearly dipped under the crossbar but not quite. Maverick stopped goalie kick dead. Charlie good battling. 11.10 Sub: Kai on, Maverick off. Owen superb shot was saved. Owen pass to Kai who played ball forward. Jack to Jake to Owen. Owen to Lucas. Jack throw. 2nd half: Freddie in goal, Jack left back, Josh and Noah central defence, Lucas right back, Ben on left, Owen on right, Kai, Declan and Maverick central midfield with Charlie up front. Sub Jake.

11.28 2nd half started. Their free kick on edge of area but Jack blocked it. 11.31 Ben equalized 1-1. Jack corner. Lucas throw. Owen great cross into box. Lucas throws on right. Jack good clearance. Josh to Ben. Freddie save. Charlie header. Declan great ball to Owen who put a strong cross in which Kai managed to keep in play on far side. 11.39 Charlie off, Jake on in midfield and Kai moved up front. 11.41 Declan scored to make it 2-1. Owen ball forward down the line to Declan who made a run into the box. Their free kick. Owen cross in for Kai half volley shot which went just wide of the post. Owen powerful cross in from left. Jack to Ben, Jack throw. Freddie great save at feet of their forward. Jack great corner. Ben shot. Maverick good battling.

Ben shot. Owen tried to knock the ball past their defender. Jake to Kai. Jake to Declan to Ben to Declan. Kai throw. Declan shot was saved. 11.58 Sub: Ben off, Charlie on. Freddie save. Noah great interception in defence. Owen to Lucas ball forward. 12.02 Owen off, Ben on right. Charlie shot. Maverick good defending. Declan cleared. Kai fouled, our free kick which Kai took. Lucas to Kai. Josh clearance which Declan got, Ben run. Sub: Charlie off, Owen on with about 30secs left of match.

Man of the Match went to Declan Pinto. All of the boys played better 2nd half as once we equalized you could see them start to believe they could win and started playing with more energy, momentum and purpose. I said to them after the game that if they could just start the game each week with the mentality as if they had just equalized then they could win matches 5-0.

This win made it 3 wins out of 4 in April with the other game being a narrow 1-2 defeat in this small Group 12 and our 2nd 2-1 win against Sandhurst this month.

Goalscorer Freddie Nash x 2. We went down to a penalty in the first 3 mins but went 2-1 up by half time. Then unfortunately conceded 2 goals in 2 mins in 2nd half cost us the match. Man of the Match was Thomas Crane.

U12 Panthers 9aside EBFA Div 6 – Lost 4-7 away to Berks County Wolves
Report from Manager Roland McGill: Another game where we could’ve and should’ve come away with something but didn’t. Big improvement on last week and we were in it until the last 3 mins when we lost 2 soft goals to lose 4-7. Highlights from the game include Ionut Mihai’s first goal for the club getting us back into the game at 2-1, a fine solo goal by Harry McGill just before half-time, 2 second half goals from Harry James and a fine debut by Oli Fern. Great to see the boys fight right until the end. Some great performances and with a bit more luck and discipline we could’ve got a result.

Goalscorers Jess Welch x 2, Nancy Dean and Hollie O’Neill. Barring disasters, this win seals the Championship for the Blue Sox who have won 11 games out of 11.

U12 Panthers 9aside EBFA Div 6 – Lost 2-6 at home to Spencers Wood Typhoons – Report from Manager Roland McGill:  Well that was a game of two halves.  We were well in control in the first half with Harry James scoring on 24mins – a well deserved lead.  We sadly fell asleep just before half time and although Adem Aitkaci saved the first shot, he couldn’t get near the second.  1-1 at half time.  Things got worse and we were 3-1 down 6mins into the 2nd half.  Harry James pulled one back with a great run and shot following a superb pass from Callum Neeson-Roberts.  Bit more slack defending meant we lost 6-2.  We did have a few more chances  but our collective defending was poor in the second half.  A couple of players were nursing injuries and this didn’t help with no subs.  Callum Neeson-Roberts got the nod for Man of the Match, really solid at the back in the first half and creative up front in the second – well done.
